There's really no such thing as a typical Lifeworks student. Most summers, we have students join us from about 22 states and 8 foreign countries, so there is naturally a lot of geographical diversity throughout our student population. Most come to us with limited or no previous experience of working as part of a community service team.
(^Back To Top^)Mostly. We know that your experience will be better if you travel within a group of similar aged teens. In most cases, we group students within a couple of years or grades of each other. Some of our smaller programs may have a larger age range, so please call us directly if this is of particular concern.
(^Back To Top^)Yes, life is coed and so is Lifeworks. We always aim to have a good mix of boys and girls together, and this goes for our staff as well. Boys and girls live in different accommodation and bathroom facilities are separate too. Privacy is thus maintained. As a rule, we find that our community service programs tend to attract more girls than boys.
(^Back To Top^)Sure you can, but don't feel like you are going to be left out if you don't, as around 80% of our students come on their own. We are very cognizant of the fact that "two's company and three's a crowd," so we do limit the number of teens that know each other on the same program.
