Fear factor
Day 15: July 28
Author: Kelly
Location: Nithan Caravan
Although Alexis and Teak had to stay back because of the lurgie, the rest of
us went out braving the pouring rain. After an hour of driving and getting lost
we arrived at the school. There we watched and participated in the Nithan Caravan.
It was fun for us, but especially for the kids. After playing with them, performing
and singing in the rain, we had lunch ate a mountain of dragon-fruit. After another
episode of getting lost, we watched Nithan Caravan once again. Along with performing
and singing in the rain again, we also painted faces and played games with the
kids. In light of the sun coming out we drove to an enormous waterfall, where
we hiked and took pictures. Those of us involved also extended their game of
Fear Factor to crossing the rampant river. As it began to pour again, we ran
for cover in the vans and drove to the tent where we enjoyed another dinner of
fried chicken and rice. Ruthie and Oye both caught the “sickness” today.
However, Alexis did recover and was excited to have us home. Once we finished
the squeeze we all hurried quickly to bed to catch some much needed sleep.
Day in the tent
Day 16: July 29
Author: Lydia
Location: Back to Bangkok
Although the weather was a bit gray the day ended up being fun. The batik was
a great way to get a behind the scenes look at exactly how much work and patience
goes into one little item. In the afternoon we bonded with the kids by playing
with them on the playground. Alexis, Raz, and Jessie practiced all day and managed
to create a little band. They performed at the goodbye dinner along side the
many dancing groups, the elderly band, and the youth rock band. It was hard to
leave the tent forever, but it was time to return to Bangkok.

Day 17: July 30

Location: Khaolak
Today was very mellow. In the morning we had some free time to sleep in and pack
up. Some people went to the beach but the weather proved to be a little gray.
We all ate lunch at Sweet Pea and then loaded up into the vans to go to the train
station. After a couple of hours of driving, we hopped onto the train and were
off.

awesome lunch at Pita Pan before we jumped on the sky-train to “Mo Chit”.
The market was insane, immense and intense. They had everything from clothes
to house-wares to pets! We had a yummy Thai dinner and than a forum at the hotel
Dance party
Day 19: August 1
Author: Lydia
Location: Siam Park
Today the group went through several weird experiences. It started off on a normal
note, when we took a van to join the youth group at the Duang Pateep Foundation,
one could say that the disco bus that we took to Siam Park was a foreshadowing
of some strange and funny incidents that I will later talk about. After playing
a game with the youth group on a bus, we enter the playground at Siam Park. Most
people would imagine swings, jungle gyms, and slides but this definitely wasn’t
the case. After Siam Park, we went back on the bus and danced to some techno
music on the bus. The day ended just like any day.
